“Great location, friendly service”

Fiesta Americana Condesa Acapulco

Stayed a little over a week (today is the last day); had the junior suite; requested well in advance a high floor (they go up to 19), but instead ended up on the 2nd floor, which was a bit of a disappointment; the view was excellent nevertheless.

The hotel is centrally located in the Golden Zone. There are 4 or 5 nightclubs on the beach right next door in the direction of the old town; we were glad our room was on the other side. A number of restaurants cater decent mexican and semi-international fare until late at night; food was fairly expensive, but in line with prices elsewhere in the city. Several alternatives are in immediate vicinity, but they are not necessarily better or cheaper (except for Natural 100% right accross the street, which was very reasonable).

Rooms are well appointed, although some details could take a bit more finishing in a 4-star hotel (e.g., the very ugly caulking around the tub enclosure). Ours had a small refrigerator, a cooktop, and a microwave.

The swimming pools look very impressive on the pictures, but they fill up very quickly. There was never a shortage of chairs at the pool, but the spots right next to pool's edge were always gone by noon. The beach is pretty, with yellow coarse sand, but it is fairly steep and the waves get quickly to be very large and intimidating.

The service (not withstanding our slight 2nd floor disappointment) was excellent, everybody tried to please us. Not everybody spoke English, probably a side effect of the fact that most guests were Mexicans. All restaurants automatically include a 10% gratuity and give an option to leave more. Daniel, the guy at the tourist services, is great; he arranged for us for a couple of attractions, including a two-tank scuba dive and discounted tickets to the Swim With The Dolphins attraction at the CiCi Aquatic park a couple of blocks away.

Plenty of taxis and buses right outside the main entrance make it very easy to reach any part of the city. Taxis from the hotel (arranged through thye concierge) are around 60-100 pesos, the small ones caught on the street cost about half of that, and buses are 4.50 per person and take you all the way to the Caleta Beach at the other end of the city.
