Mexico Vacation Packages By: Apple Vacations & Pleasant Holidays
“Great Honeymoon, great unique vacation experience” Las Brisas AcapulcoAfter lots of research on places to stay for our honeymoon, especially on trip advisor, we decided to book a Junior Suite at Las Brisas hotel. The first thing to do if considering staying at this hotel is to read all the reviews and see what you are in for! This is not a typical hotel, with a large lobby, elevators, etc. All the "Casita’s" in this hotel are spread out throughout the resort. All of them are ground level, even the top. The hotel is a staple in Acapulco, dating back 40-50 years ago. So yes, the look is retro. Yes, the theme is pink! (Subtle pink, but still pink!)
Before we went on the trip, I read all of the reviews to see what we could expect, get ideas on where to go, etc. After experiencing it for 8 days, I can confidently say the do's and don'ts: DO go to Wal-MArt. Stock up on snacks. It's down the street, and will save you money. DO be prepared for the room service bill. The food does not come cheap at Las Brisas. To be fair, the food does not come cheap in many places in Acapulco! DO pack a pair of pants, men! Don't laugh--my husband did not! In Mexico, many men wear pants regardless of the weather, and many establishments still have attire requirements before entering. DO visit the Beach Club early on in your stay--it is amazing...so amazing, you might want to come back. DO book a junior suite or upgrade to the El Fuerte section! It was worth the ensured privacy and rain shower! DO go to the sunset bar, at least once, to see the sunset! DO book your trip during the wet season! Not only is it half full, but it only rains at night--it only rained one night before 11pm and you get to fall asleep to the amazing sound of rain--and in the morning, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and all of the plants were lush and full. By mid day, the clouds would gather again--which was a nice reprieve from the sun.
DON'T expect not to see a bug. All the rooms are on ground level with their own pool. You are going to see a bug or lizard. DON'T expect to save money--food and cab rides into town can add up. Most cab drivers are truly friendly and will help you out with places to go, where to get the best deal, etc. Especially during the off season. DON'T book a lot of things to do, because you really won't want to leave your room!
Comments on the room--If you can do it, I really recommend the El Fuerte section of Las Brisas. It is the top area of the resort and all of the rooms are completely private--there is not another room above you. In addition, they have all been recently renovated and include an amazing open rain shower. The Sunset bar is a brief walk away. Since we were in the off season, I had the opportunity to peak at a few rooms in the El Fuerte section that were unoccupied. All of the rooms are amazing, but the two that really stood out were 468 and 467. Differences: 468 has more patio area--the pool is actually turned to the side of the bay (if that makes sense) so you have more area with a view. In 467, the pool goes deep, so you have more depth. The view is the same, however we loved 467 because, even though the patio was a little smaller, the landscape was beautiful (468 did not have much), and the overall impact was intimate and just beautiful. Each patio/ pool area, however, has its own traits that make it unique, so you will be happy with any of them!
A few comments on the amenities-- worked out in the gym, very basic, but sufficient (a few tread mills, a step machine, stairs, and a weight machine). want an amazing experience if you work out? Work out in the gym, walk the hill and then jump into your pool. Did it every day in the morning--what a feeling! The deli shop is very expensive- just order off the menu in your room, enjoy your view and get more food. The business center was good--internet is $5 for 30 minutes and was easy to use.
side trips--we fell in love with 100% natural--healthier options and dirt cheap. See the cliff divers! The view is amazing. We went horseback riding on the beach and that was fun. If you like red snapper, order it at one of the beach places!
All in all, the experience was amazing. If you know what to expect, and if you are ready for a unique experience that isn't your basic hotel, you LOVE Las Brisas and Acapulco! Enjoy! We will be back! |
