“Great Couples Resort”

Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club

We read all the reviews before we arrived, so we were not sure what to expect. The Resort was great. The entertainment staff went out of their way to involve all the guests in various activities (my husband loved the various drinking contests). The Buffet Restarant was great for breakfast and lunch, but Dinner was just OK. The other restaurants, which require reservations, were outstanding. You are not limited to the number of times you can vist the restaurants during your stay. You can make a reservation the day before, we did not have any problems getting a reservation. The Japanese Restaurant is actually two separate venues; the Sushi Bar and the Stir Fry Area. Each require a separate Reservation. We ate there twice at the Sushi Bar and one at the Stir Fry area and each time the food was great and the staff - outstanding. There is also another "snack food" eating area (they serve burgers, hot dogs, chicken and usually a fish special with rice each day). It's a good place to go when you first check in as you can get food at 4 or 5pm. The bars were scattered around the property and you never waited to get served at any of them. They do carry top shelf liquor, but you need to ask for it (like Absolut and Soda) or you will be served well liquor, which is standard at any bar.

The Guest Relations staff were excellent. We mentioned it was our 40th Wedding Anniversary the last night of our stay and they allowed us to make a dinner reservation several days in advance for the restauarant of our choice and also had a bottle of Champagne delivered to our room.

We are golfers and one of the reasons we chose this resort was the availability of Golf included. We already were aware that the green fees were included and that we needed to pay for the cart fee ($35/cart-not per player) and $20 for the mandatory Caddy. You do not need to take a cart - you can walk the course but each player would need a caddy. We played 6 days at the course and had a great time. The resort has a shuttle stop at the east end with a security guard on site, so when you walk over, they call over to the Golf Course (on the other side of the road-thru an under-pass) and the shuttle arrives promptly.

It was a great vacation and we would definitely go back and have already recommended the resort to several couples
